A Rising Trend of 18-hour and 15-minute cities
Did you know that 18-hour cities and 15-minute cities are concepts that are transitioning into the mainstream? An 18-hour city is a medium-sized city which is less intense, low cost of living, and has attractive amenities. Kitchener-Waterloo, London and Ottawa are three Ontario examples.
A 15-minute city offers residents access to daily necessities – groceries, drug stores, libraries and schools – within a short walk or bike ride. According to the Globe and Mail, only 23% of urban Canadians live in this type of area.
